Hare Notebook

Every design at Meg Hawkins starts in the same place – with paint, paper and a quiet moment in the studio.

Meg paints each piece by hand in the Shropshire Hills, often inspired by the countryside, wildlife and everyday moments that catch the eye. This isn’t digital artwork or something created quickly on a screen – it’s real watercolour, built up in layers to capture movement, texture and tone.

Once a painting is complete, it’s carefully translated into product. This is where a lot of unseen work happens. Colours are matched, scale is adjusted, and layouts are tested to make sure the final piece still feels true to the original artwork.

From there, we move into sampling and production. For example:

  • Our mugs are made from new bone china, designed for everyday use and finished in full colour gift boxes
  • Our candles are made using soy wax with a 40+ hour burn time
  • Our diffusers use 150ml fragrance oils in glass vessels designed to sit beautifully in the home

You can explore how these designs translate across collections in our homeware range or home fragrance collection.

We don’t rush this process. Every stage is about keeping the integrity of the artwork while making something practical, giftable and long-lasting.
